Nearly 140 years on... an unknown gold miner is being laid to rest in Central Otago today

A memorial service is being held for the body - and boots - of the man discovered in 1983 ahead of the construction of the Clyde Dam and highway in Cromwell.

Funeral director Lynley Claridge says the service will include a nod to the miner's era.
