An Invercargill man's been jailed for more than 13 years, for stabbing two people in a drug-deal gone wrong

An Invercargill man's been jailed for more than 13 years, for stabbing two people in a drug-deal gone wrong

Naya Ropiu Fabian Wharekura denied murdering Chad Terrance Parekura - and the attempted murder of another man.

A jury's found him guilty of both.

He's been sentenced to life imprisonment with 13 years and three months minimum non-parole period, at the High Court in Invercargill.

The judge says he doesn't believe Wharekura is truly remorseful, and noted he was on parole for an aggravated robbery at the time of the stabbings.
