Central Otago's troubled Shotover wastewater treatment plant is going to be checked on less regularly

Central Otago's troubled Shotover wastewater treatment plant is going to be checked on less regularly

Queenstown Lakes District Council started sending 12-thousand cubic metres of wastewater into the river daily in March, after it was revealed the disposal system had performance issues.

Otago Regional Council is now modifying its testing programme from weekly to monthly.

The testing is still in line with an enforcement order, approved by the Environment Court in June, after several infringement notices were issued.
