Dairy farmers aren't overly optimistic that a wide ranging milk payout will be narrowed

Dairy farmers aren't overly optimistic that a wide ranging milk payout will be narrowed

The Covid 19 crisis led dairy giant Fonterra to forecast a broad range of $5.40 to $6.90 per kilogram of milk solids for the 2020-21 season.

Such a big range in the forecast payout, makes it difficult for farmers to budget.

Federated Farmers North Canterbury president Cameron Henderson says some of our main markets are still fighting the virus and consumers are unable to buy our milk products.

He says a payout above six dollars, would be welcomed by many farmers.
