Stepping off the plane in North Queensland was a shock to the system for kiwi triathlete Mike Phillips

Stepping off the plane in North Queensland was a shock to the system for kiwi triathlete Mike Phillips

The 2019 Ironman New Zealand champion will be on the start line for Sunday's Ironman Cairns.

He says after training in a very cold Christchurch in recent times, he's needed to reacclimatize.

Other kiwi pros competing include Mike's brother Ben Phillips, veteran Cameron Brown, defending champion Amelia Watkinson and Rebecca Clarke.
