Runner Geordie Beamish has outlined why he's opted out of his preferred 3000 metre steeplechase event for the past four months

He broke the New Zealand record for the 5000 metres at a recent meet in Boston, with a time of 13 minutes 4.33 seconds.
Beamish says he's been building a strong base by competing in other races.
