Eliza McCartney has admitted she wasn't at her best as she locked in the national women's pole vault title in Wellington this afternoon

Eliza McCartney has admitted she wasn't at her best as she locked in the national women's pole vault title in Wellington this afternoon

The UK-based athlete cleared 4.70 to beat Imogen Ayris by 31 centimetres, but was unable to clear a world-class 4.86.

McCartney says she was pleased with her efforts, despite the challenges of long-haul travel.

Jacko Gill has pipped Tom Walsh by six centimetres to win the shot put title...while Tori Peeters has blitzed the field in the women's javelin and the Olivier brothers have enjoyed a one-two finish in the triple jump.

18-year-old Ethan has leapt 16.62 metres to set a New Zealand Residents record with 21-year-old Welre 81 centimetres further back.
