Sports star accused of dishonestly taking vehicle and intentional damage on Christchurch's Cup Day, pleads guilty to lesser wilful damage charge

A sports star accused of dishonestly taking a vehicle and intentional damage in an incident after Christchurch's Cup Day, has pleaded guilty to a single lesser charge of wilful damage

It's alleged that on November 15 the man allegedly took a car worth $10-thousand from another person, before intentionally damaging the car owner's garage door.

An interim suppression order prevents the reporting of his name and any other details that may identify him.

He pleaded not guilty to the two initial charges, but has since entered a guilty plea to one charge of wilful damage.

The man will be sentenced in October.
