A sweet reward following a tough few years for kiwi cyclist Shane Archbold

A sweet reward following a tough few years for kiwi cyclist Shane Archbold

Archbold has seen off his close mate George Bennett to win the national road race championships in Cambridge, overhauling his fellow pro with only a couple of kilometres left.

Archbold broke his pelvis on the Tour de France in 2016 and also endured his road team fold.

He says he really needed this.

The win also means the black and white jersey for national champion will be seen on the European tours.
