2023 Tour of Southland cycling champion Dan Gardner has his Bluff Hill efforts to thank for his result

The English rider won the overall event by staving off the challenge of four chasing Kiwis.. Joe Cooper in second 15 seconds behind, followed by Boris Clark, Ben Oliver and Craig Oliver.

Gardner says winning Stage Five earlier in the week was his defining moment in the race, and it was a climb he thoroughly enjoyed.
