Auckland restaurateur and one-time mayoral candidate Leo Molloy has outed himself as the businessman charged with assaulting police, last July

Police claim he assaulted one officer and obstructed another.
Molloy has appeared in Auckland District Court, and he told Judge Kathryn Maxwell he is abandoning the suppression application.
He told the Herald it was initially sought because of potential issues with his liquor licence.
Molloy has previously pleaded not guilty.
His next court appearance is in April.
