The high-end hotel industry's demanding movement on a trans-Tasman bubble by the end of the year

Seven new hotels are due to open in Auckland alone over the next two years - despite borders remaining shut.

One of them is the luxury Park Hyatt in the Wynyard Quarter, which opens in September with room rates starting at 450-dollars a night.

General manager Brett Sweetman says they're desperate to have clarity over the Australian market by the end of the year.

He says the whole industry is screaming for this, and there are already a lot of enquiries coming in from Australia.
