The latest Real Estate Institute data shows Auckland's median house price increased by 11.5 percent over the past year to 920 thousand dollars.
A third more properties were sold in the region in July this year, compared to the same month last year.
One Roof editor Owen Vaughan says there was a lot of intense bidding at auctions last month.
He says the big question is whether the housing market will bounce back again if level three in Auckland is extended.
