The Covid 19 pandemic is proving to the final "straw" towards consolidation in the soft drink sector

The Covid 19 pandemic is proving to the final "straw" towards consolidation in the soft drink sector

The bottling and soft drink giant is trying to take over Amatil -- the company licensed to produce Coca-Cola products in New Zealand and Australia.

It's part of a broader expansion plan, that will see its consumer base double.

Greg Smith from Fat Prophets says reduced sales in bars and restaurants has made market conditions more difficult.

He says Amatil was already fending off the impact of reduced demand for sugary drinks.
