Bars and restaurants want changes to alcohol licensing during level two

Auckland Council and Auckland Transport are going to be fast-tracking new licences and extensions to food-only outdoor dining applications.

It will mean businesses can extend their outdoor space to maximise customers, while keeping distance.

Takapuna Business Association Chief Executive Terence Harpur says they'd like to see alcohol extended into these larger spaces as well.

He says they want to see Auckland Council and politicians work on the legislation ... and think about making a temporary change for the entire summer period.
