Business confidence and demand has fallen as Covid-19 drags on, but the capital seems to be in its own bubble

The latest Real Estate Institute Survey of Business Opinion shows uncertainty over the pandemic remains high, as new variants emerge.

Principal economist, Christina Leung , says many are reporting weaker demand, because of restrictions in Auckland last year.

She says every region except Wellington expects economic conditions to worsen.

Leung says it shows the capital is relatively well-insulated from the prolonged lockdown in Auckland.
