A Northland scuba diving company hopes to be back up and running tomorrow, following last weekend's surges

A Northland scuba diving company hopes to be back up and running tomorrow, following last weekend's surges

The surges -- sparked by the Tongan eruption -- swept up about 60 boats at Tutukaka Marina.

It left businesses, already hit hard by the pandemic, with millions of dollars in damages.

Dive Tutukaka Director Jeroen Jongejans says they have spent this week clearing debris and dragging up sunken boats, and they're making good progress.

Jongejans says there is going to be a shortage of berths in Tutukaka for a while, but it's thankfully only material damage.
