The impact of Omicron's being felt, both on international markets and those at home

The impact of Omicron's being felt, both on international markets and those at home

ANZ economist Finn Robinson says our sharemarket took a big knock yesterday.

He says inflation is high so central banks will have to take away the punchbowl of low interest rates, which is bothering markets and is going to weigh on the economy.

Robinson says people are expecting US interest rates to go up, which reduces people's appetite for risk, and flows through to New Zealand shares.
