Home values are expected to drop in Canterbury? eventually

The latest QV House Price Index shows the average Christchurch home increased to 800 thousand dollars last month - a local record.

Nationally, the average home value fell 2.2 percent over the three months to the end of April.

QV property consultant Olivia Brownie says Canterbury's increase is likely to be short-lived.

She says more properties have been listed in recent months, which will be a key factor in reducing home value growth.
