    A big player in the dairy industry both in New Zealand and abroad, Theo Spierings , has died

    The former Fonterra chief executive died unexpectedly after a brief illness, over the weekend.

    Spierings led Fonterra for more than seven years - before co-founding Dutch consultancy firm, The Purpose Factory, focused on sustainable development.

    A private memorial service for the 60-year-old will be held in the Netherlands.
