    Rents are surging in the deep south

    Rents are surging in the deep south

    New figures from Trade Me show Otago rents have increased 11.6 percent in the past year, while Southland rents have increased by 6.8 percent.

    Canterbury rents are down 0.9 percent.

    Wellington and Auckland rents remain unchanged on a year ago.

    Bay of Plenty still has the highest rents in the country, despite a 0.7 percent drop in the past year.
