Australia won't get an exemption from Donald Trump's new 25-percent tariff on steel and aluminium imports

Australia won't get an exemption from Donald Trump's new 25-percent tariff on steel and aluminium imports

The US President has also announced 50-percent tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminium imports, in response to Ontario's now-suspended 25-percent surcharge on electricity exports.

Markets are continuing to fall, after Trump refused to rule out a recession.

But White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt says Trump is looking out for Wall Street and Main Street, and doing what's in the best interests of the country.

She says the US President is unwavering in his commitment to restore American manufacturing and global dominance.
