Foodstuffs insists Kiwi shoppers are getting a good deal on their groceries

Foodstuffs insists Kiwi shoppers are getting a good deal on their groceries

The Commerce Commission claims the companies' pre-tax earnings and profit percentage are higher than major overseas chains like Walmart, Tesco, Kroger and Sainsbury.

But Foodstuffs North Island Chief Executive Chris Quin says it's a difficult thing to compare.

He says while Foodstuffs is more profitable than many New Zealand retailers, it's prices stack up well against chains overseas.

Quin says when they compare their prices to Aldi in Australia or Tesco in the UK, New Zealanders are getting a great value option through Pak'n Save.
