Hopes the Reserve Bank Chair's decision to step down will put an end to the debacle surrounding the former Governor's resignation

Hopes the Reserve Bank Chair's decision to step down will put an end to the debacle surrounding the former Governor's resignation

Neil Quigley resigned yesterday, with immediate effect.

It follows Finance Minister Nicola Willis' transparency concerns over former Governor Adrian Orr's decision to leave.

Infometrics Principal Economist Brad Olsen says this should provide important closure, and restore some trust.

Olsen says the public were fed one story before the truth came out, and given the Minister's lack of confidence he was either going to have to resign or be fired.
