Air New Zealand's started its cargo flight service

    Air New Zealand
The airline's focusing on cargo operations in response to the impacts of coronavirus, with a flight to Shanghai leaving last night carrying premium local exports.

Chief revenue officer Cam Wallace says there's a lot of cargo demand - and not much competition.

He says shipments have included food good like fish and honey to Asia, and then also getting medical supplies to market in the Americas.

The bad news for the airline is its told three and a half thousand staff they will lose their jobs, due to the impact of a loss of international travel.
