Auckland's recorded its first ever population decline -- due to the ongoing impact of Covid-19 on international migration

New population estimates from Stats NZ show the population shrunk 0.1 percent in year to June.

Southland and West Cost are also shrinking -- while all other regions are recording a much slower population growth than in previous years.

Northland, Tasman, Waikato and Hawke's Bay are now our fastest growing regions.
