Porsche and Audi are poised to enter Formula 1 in 2026

The two VW Group brands have begun the final phase of evaluation for both entries, who have long been speculated to join.

VW chief executive Herbert Diess says discussions about joining at board level had created divisions within the group.

He said Audi and Porsche bosses, whose brands are VW's biggest income generators, argued entering would bring in more money than not doing so.

Official confirmation could come in July.
