Former Australian cricketer Michael Slater will walk free - despite being handed a four year prison sentence on domestic violence charges

Former Australian cricketer Michael Slater will walk free - despite being handed a four year prison sentence on domestic violence charges

The 55-year-old former test opener will be released on time already served after pleading guilty to multiple charges at the Maroochydore District Court, north of Brisbane.

Slater's been in custody for more than a year after he was refused bail on charges including stalking or intimidation, breaking into a dwelling with intent at night and common assault.

The remainder of his sentence is suspended for five years.
