Black Caps skipper Mitchell Santner's doing his best to stay upbeat after a seven-wicket thrashing in game two of their T20 cricket series against hosts India

The New Zealand bowlers came in for significant punishment as the hosts chased down a target of 209 with almost five overs to spare.

Suryakumar Yadav , Ishan Kishan and Shivam Dube smashed 82, 76 and 36 - respectively - all with strike rates of 200 or better.

With some players still to arrive as the T20 World Cup looms closer - Santner's keeping his eyes forward.

India lead the series 2-nil going in game three in Guwahati on Monday morning.
