    Queensland coach Billy Slater believes Auckland-born Robert Toia is ready for the cauldron of State of Origin rugby league - barely two months after making his NRL debut


    The Roosters centre has been named for game one next Wednesday in Brisbane, having impressed in the opening 11 rounds of his debut season.

    Slater says the 20-year-old has shown his mental fortitude by battling through two serious knee injuries.



    Titans backrower Beau Fermor and Storm lock Trent Loiero will also be on Maroons debut.

    New South Wales prop Payne Haas has been cleared of a serious quad injury and will join the side in camp.
