Two men are due to appear in court, following a firearms incident in Christchurch over the weekend

Police were called to a group of people allegedly holding a firearm and making threats from a vehicle in Shirley just before 1.30 on Sunday morning.

Officers found the alleged offenders at a property on Marshland Road.

A 32-year-old will appear in Christchurch District Court today, facing multiple charges including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Meanwhile a 28-year-old will appear later this month charged with obstructing police.
