Not everyone's in favour of a brand new stadium for Christchurch

Not everyone's in favour of a brand new stadium for Christchurch

Councillors have today heard from sports, entertainment and business groups backing the 475 million dollar investment.

All but one voted to send the proposal to Cabinet for final approval.

Linwood's Yani Johanson gave a heartfelt speech to Council and Mayor Lianne Dalziel - on his reasons for voting against it.

He says it should be put back at Lancaster Park - saving more than 80 million dollars which could be better used to help improve the city's social housing stock.
