Aucklanders are being reminded to think about their drinking water, as warmer weather rolls in

Mayor Phil Goff warns the sprinkling of rain over the past few days has done little to raise rainwater tanks in rural areas.

Households reliant on tanks for drinking water are advised to use it wisely -- and book in a water delivery if necessary.

The region's dam levels have also stayed stubbornly low.

Storage levels remain at a little more than 65 per cent, when they usually sit at 86.5 per cent at this time of year.

Aucklanders' are doing reasonably well on the conservation front.

The seven-day rolling average for water use is almost at 440 million litres - 21 million litres below our target.
