A Kiwi peanut butter company is trying its hand at growing nuts in Northland

Pic's peanut butter will try to boost its imported Australian nuts - by growing their own in three plantations in the north, where the soil temperature is ideal.

Plant and Food Research Business Manager, Declan Graham, says it's a fast growing food

He says the nuts are only in the ground for about 20 weeks.
