The government is being blamed for delay in firearms licensing

The government is being blamed for delay in firearms licensing

Owners have to wait six months for renewal and 12 months for a new licence.

The Act Party says the delay will cause stress for legal owners.

Firearms Spokesperson Nicole McKee says rushed legislation after the Christchurch terror attack needs to be changed.

She says Act wants to make sure legal owners are treated with respect and communities feel safe.
