A surprise housing market stat ... should be taken with a pinch of salt

The median price for Auckland houses sold by Barfoot and Thompson went up two percent in June from May.

Managing Director Peter Thompson says it's a modest rise no one saw coming.

Thompson says it could just be a little glitch that is rectified next month -- but whether it goes down or stays put is yet to be established.
