Questions over the name of Ruapehu's Turoa skifield

Documents from the Maori Crown relations office show hapu Patutokotoko is concerned Pure Turoa is commercialising the name - which comes from historical leader, Te Peehi Turoa.

District Mayor Weston Kirton says Turoa's been around for a long time, and we need that name attached to the skifields because it has a proud history.

The hapu and Government are having conversations about a possible reconciliation package.
