Optimism over a new underwriting scheme - set up to stimulate housing construction

Optimism over a new underwriting scheme - set up to stimulate housing construction

The Residential Development Underwrite finances eligible developers - for projects with at least 30 houses

It's intended to speed up the developments during the economic downturn and for buyers entering the market as interest rates drop.

New Zealand Certified Builders chief executive Malcolm Fleming says builders working on stalled projects will immediately benefit.

Meanwhile, he says architects and designers will benefit from the not-yet-designed greenfield site projects - as many have been actively looking for work.
