Secondary school teachers who are part of the PPTA union have voted to go ahead with strike action

Secondary school teachers who are part of the PPTA union have voted to go ahead with strike action

It means teachers won't teach certain class levels, from Year 7 to 13, on certain days next week and will also take part in a full day national strike on October 23, and carry out a ban on extracurricular activity on October 29.

There will also be a full, national, two-hour strike on November 5.

PPTA president Chris Abercrombie says the pay increase being offered is still below current and projected rates of inflation and the offer fails to address the issues at the heart of their claims - such as teaching conditions.
