Labour's doing its best to turn Whanganui red

Steph Lewis is up against a fellow lawyer - National party incumbent Harete Hipango.

For the last five election cycles the seat's been blue - but Lewis is hoping for an upset.

She wants to bring back training incentives as she knows how hard it can be getting regional work.

Lewis says she spent seven months looking for a job when she moved back after university

Harete Hipango says the electorate is extremely diverse and she knows there's real need in pockets of the area.

She says in Whanganui the inequity of Maori health is prevalent.
