A road safety campaigner thinks police should seize phones instead of handing out fines for using one behind the wheel

A road safety campaigner thinks police should seize phones instead of handing out fines for using one behind the wheel

The Government's increasing the penalty from 80 to 150 dollars from the end of the month.

There were 22 road deaths where drivers where distracted by mobiles between 2015 and 2019.

Clive Matthew Wilson doubts it'll make a difference -- and says offenders should instead have their phones taken away.

He says if you don't get the message, the police should seize your cell phone, number and car for a week.
