The Government books have sunk further into the red

The Government books have sunk further into the red

Treasury has revealed the Crown's deficit deepened by 3.4-billion-dollars in the year to this June.

    It now sits at 12.9-billion-dollars.

Expenses hit 180-billion- 4.4-billion-dollars higher than forecast in the 2024 Budget, released in May.

The costs outstrip money brought in - mostly through taxes - with revenue sitting at 167-billion-dollars.

Government debt has now increased by 20-billion-dollars - and makes up 42.5 percent of GDP.
