A call for permanent Police presence on buses and trains, after increasing violence

A call for permanent Police presence on buses and trains, after increasing violence

Figures released to Newstalk ZB show there are more than 93 security and emergency incidents a week on Auckland's public transport network.

Police are boosting patrols at transport hubs after last week's fatal stabbing in Onehunga.

Public Transport Users' Association National Coordinator Jon Reeves says Police need to be more permanently visible.

He says other countries -- like Switzerland, France, UK and Germany -- put Police on buses, because it works.
