    The Government's considering the future of financial support for farmers in many parts of the North Island and upper South


    Farmers struggling due to recent drought conditions can apply for Rural Assistance Payments from today.

    Applications can be made with local Rural Support Trusts until late October.

    Rural Communities Minister Mark Peterson says payments like these may have to become more frequent over time.
