Kaipara has a new mayor, with official results confirming a very tight race

Jonathan Larsen's taken the top job by just 21 votes, following his stint as outgoing Mayor Craig Jepson's Deputy.

The fine margin was between him, and iwi leader Snow Tane.

This comes as incumbent Kaipara councillors have voted to back a complaint letter to the DIA from Jepson, about election conduct with claims there were irregularities in the voting process.
