A spike in cases forced Wellington Hospital to designate a separate ward for Covid patients early this month

A spike in cases forced Wellington Hospital to designate a separate ward for Covid patients early this month

Heath New Zealand's Jamie Duncan says it had to open the dedicated clinical area from May 31-to-June 11, for the first time since 2021.

He says the hospital had a large increase in Covid as well as other respiratory illnesses.

He's encouraging people to protect themselves against winter bugs.
