A specialist GP is warning the incoming 24/7 digital healthcare service could be a poor investment

A specialist GP is warning the incoming 24/7 digital healthcare service could be a poor investment

Health Minister Simeon Brown's new service, which aims to help casual patients seeking a GP, is expected to launch next month.

A leaked document - which Health NZ says is outdated - appears to show significantly more funding for this service over primary care.

GenPro Chair Angus Chambers says regardless of the final figure, the service misses the mark.

He says people won't necessarily be dealt with in the best way, and could end up in the emergency department.

Chambers says there will be a number of costs if we don't get this right.
