    The number of children and youths entering the justice system is dropping

    The number of children and youths entering the justice system is dropping


    The latest Youth Justice Indicator shows the number of children being dealt with decreased by 22-percent in the 2025 financial year compared to the year prior.

    For young people it decreased nine-percent....this equates to a reduction of just over a thousand..

    About a quarter of young people in the statistics appeared in the Youth Court.
