An upgrade to Christchurch Hospital's ICU

The Government has unveiled 12 new beds, under its Rapid Hospital Improvement Programme.

The project has taken 75 days, ahead of schedule and under budget.

Health Minister Andrew Little says it's one of 24 funded hospital upgrades.

He says it would've been done with or without the pandemic, because even before Covid, there was a lack of ICU space across the country.
