Masterton police are appealing for help after a gun was pointed at a service station employ during a robbery

Masterton police are appealing for help after a gun was pointed at a service station employ during a robbery

Two men threatened the employee at the BP petrol station on Chapel Street in the Wairarapa town shortly after 9pm on Wednesday.

The robbers demanded cash and cigarettes before heading towards Renall Street.

Detective Senior Sergeant Barry Bysouth says the firearm is a distinctive rifle and someone may recognise it.

He says police are keen to speak to anyone in the area with CCTV footage and also the driver of a car that passed the pair immediately after the robbery took place.
